She has instructed in and has been successful in criminal trials involving indictable offences. She has made a successful discontinuance application, and has negotiated the withdrawal of charges on multiple occasions. She has personally appeared in contested hearings, bail applications, and appeals. She also provides sporadic pro bono assistance to those in need.
Kara is passionate about rehabilitation, not retribution. She is part way through a Bachelor of Psychology degree to assist her in understanding why people commit criminal offences.
Kara regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia for parenting and property matters. The emphasis is always on reuniting children with parents where it is safe to do so, fostering positive relationships, and on achieving a fair and equitable property settlement. In particular, she has developed an interest in parenting matters where a parent has been criminally charged, is or has been imprisoned, or has been found guilty or convicted of criminal offences. As a mother, she is passionate about ensuring the wellbeing of children. She completed the Independent Children's Lawyer course in August 2024.
By combining her extensive legal knowledge, Court experience, and compassion, Kara strives to obtain the best outcomes for her clients. In particular, she hopes to walk in her father's footsteps after losing him to Motor Neurone Disease on 14 April 2022.
Outside of the law, Kara dotes on her Toy Cavoodle, Hudson, and her family. She is an avid Melbourne Demons supporter and so you will often find her cheering them on at the MCG, just not in 2024.
